Overview
This new 2027 Peterbilt 567 conventional day cab is set up as a tri-axle dump truck with a 17'6" BMT-S High Lift dump body. It carries an 80,000 lb GVWR and an 80,000 lb GCW. The chassis is spec'd for performance vocational work with a heavy GCWR.
Engine & Drivetrain
Power comes from a Cummins X15 Performance Series engine rated at 565 HP at 1,900 RPM, governed at 1,900 RPM, with 1,850 lb-ft of torque at 1,000 RPM. It is a 2026 model-year engine built to 2024 series emissions standards, and it is CARB and EPA compliant for emissions and engine idling. The engine is backed by an Allison 4500 RDS-P Gen 6 Rugged Duty Series automatic transmission. The transmission runs in a 6-speed configuration with a TC-571 torque converter, neutral at stop and a dash-mounted push-button shifter.
The rear axle ratio is 4.30, and the typical operating speed is 68 MPH, with maximum accelerator and cruise control speeds also set at 68 MPH. A Jacobs compression brake is operated from the right-hand column. Drivelines are an SPL170 HD-XL main driveline with one midship bearing and an SPL170 XL interaxle driveline for the tandem.
The electrical system uses a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator and a PACCAR premium starter. It has three PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries rated at 2,190 CCA, a low-voltage disconnect system and a Kissling 300A cab power disconnect switch mounted on the battery box. Cooling is handled by a high-efficiency cooling system with a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent start/stops. An 18.7 CFM air compressor supplies the air system. Fuel handling includes a PACCAR fuel/water separator with an extended service interval, fuel filter heat and a fuel cooler. The truck also has a 110-120V immersion-type block heater. Air intake runs through dual self-cleaning under-hood pre-cleaners to a firewall-mounted air cleaner.
The idle shutdown timer is set to 5 minutes and includes a hot-ambient override. The remote PTO/throttle provision is a 12-pin connection in the engine bay, and PTO maximum engine speed is set at 1,400 RPM. The exhaust is a dual SOC setup with a left-hand stack look and a single DPF/SCR module under the right-hand side of the cab. It finishes in 7" chrome-plated steel standpipes and 36" tall 5" chrome standpipes with clear coat and curved tips. A DPF regeneration switch is included.
Chassis & Axles
The frame is built on 10-3/4" steel rails at 3/8" thickness, running to 354", with a full steel inner liner, aluminum crossmembers and heavy-duty iron front spring brackets. Wheelbase is 235", with a cab-to-axle measurement of 144.9" and a cab-to-end-of-frame measurement of 204.9". The end of frame is square.
Up front is a PACCAR FX-20 wide-track steer axle rated at 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop. It has TRW THP60 dual-gear power steering and a frame-mounted steering reservoir with a cooler. The rear is a Dana Spicer D46-172 tandem rated at 46,000 lbs, with heavy-wall drive axles, a drive axle lube pump, and tandem differential locks with a speed interlock.
A Hendrickson EXS20 self-steering pusher axle rated at 20,000 lbs is set 50" from the forward drive axle. It stows higher when lifted for maximum ground clearance. The lift axle regulator is mounted on a crossmember, with a switch and gauge in the dash.
Engineering-assigned ratings are 20,000 lbs GAWR front, 20,000 lbs first intermediate, 23,000 lbs second intermediate and 23,000 lbs rear. Maximum grade rating is 6%.
Stopping power comes from Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes on the front and tandem drive axles, and air disc brakes on the pusher axle, all with PHP10 iron preset-plus hubs. The brake system includes 6S6M ABS, Bendix Smart ATC traction control, a pneumatic park brake and an SBM valve. The truck also has a tire pressure monitoring system and synthetic lubricant on all axles. The air system uses a Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with a heater, coalescing filter and extended purge, plus polished aluminum air tanks mounted outside the frame rails.
Suspension
The front rides on 20,000 lb taper-leaf springs with Tenneco shocks and greasable spring pins. The rear uses Peterbilt Air Trac suspension rated at 46,000 lbs with a 52" axle spread and air springs with internal bumpers. It has a single leveling valve at the forward drive axle and a dash-mounted dump switch with an indicator light.
Cab & Interior
The cab is a VOC 121" BBC aluminum day cab with a Metton hood, a stainless steel crown and grille, and tilt assist. It rides on cab air suspension and has a thermal insulation package. The cab and hood are painted in a two-stage metallic/pearl finish, Axalta Red (L3781EY), with a black frame.
Inside is a Prestige interior in Sterling Gray with black seats. The driver gets a Peterbilt LX premium seat that is high-back, air-ride and leather, with left and right armrests. The passenger seat is a Peterbilt ST high-back in Mordura, with a toolbox and tow hook holders underneath. The premium leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel has audio and cruise controls and sits on a tilt/telescoping column.
The 15" digital instrument cluster displays drive axle, engine and transmission oil temperatures. It also shows air filter restriction, brake and suspension air pressures, pusher axle pressure, turbo boost, percent torque, and engine and PTO hourmeters. Technology includes a 7" infotainment display with Apple CarPlay, a four-speaker package and a Cobra 29 CB radio with a cowl-mounted antenna. The truck also has global telematics hardware and a 5-year SmartLINQ remote diagnostics subscription.
The cab has a one-piece curved windshield with dark window tint, a fixed one-piece rear window, and power windows and door locks. Climate is handled by a combination heater/air conditioner. Other cab features include:
- a stainless steel outside sunvisor
- bright-finish motorized, heated aero mirrors with integrated convex lenses
- a look-down mirror over the passenger door
- a removable bugscreen, intermittent wipers and an under-cab air horn
Safety and lighting equipment includes a 107 dB backup alarm, a fire extinguisher and a triangle reflector kit. The truck also has projector headlights, five LED aero marker lights and two flush-mounted LED load lights, plus wiring for a beacon/strobe and auxiliary lights.
Body & Equipment
The truck carries a 17'6" x 54 x 60 BMT-S High Lift dump body with a 1/4" AR450 floor and door, and 3/16" AR450 sides and front. It has a standard slope door, a high-lift gate, a center coal door, an air-operated door opening and a door clevis. The body also has inside steps, extra oval holes in the rear and a 24" x 65" cab shield.
The hoist uses a Binotto 40T installation kit and a Binotto ANT 6.4-4-150 cylinder, with a vertical tank and a standard body prop. The upfit adds a new PTO and dump pump, hydraulic lines, and a tower and dump valve in the cab, working with the chassis's dash-mounted electric-over-hydraulic PTO control. It also includes a new hinge, a welded cylinder mount, a ladder, mud flap brackets, a new tarp system and a new electrical harness. Lighting on the body is four amber lights up front and two tail lights at the rear. The body is painted black.
