Overview
Overview
This new 2027 Peterbilt Model 567 is a conventional day cab dump truck with a polished 17' Heritage Aluminum Smooth Side dump body. It is spec'd with a PACCAR MX-13 engine, an Allison automatic transmission, a tandem drive axle and a self-steering pusher axle. GVWR and GCW are both 80,000 lbs, and the maximum grade rating is 6 percent.
Engine & Drivetrain
Power comes from a PACCAR MX-13 Performance engine rated at 510 HP at 1,600 RPM, governed at 2,200 RPM, with 1,850 lb-ft of torque at 1,000 RPM. It is a 2024-emissions, CARB emission-compliant engine with CARB engine idling compliance and EMUX electronics. The powertrain is optimized for performance vocational applications and heavy GCWR. It is set for a typical operating speed of 68 MPH with a 64 MPH cruise control maximum. The engine idle shutdown timer is disabled, and engine monitoring protection is set to derate. A PACCAR compression brake is controlled from the right-hand column. The MX retarder state is set to cruise control on.
Transmission & Driveline
The transmission is an Allison 4500 RDS-P Rugged Duty Series Gen 6 in a 6-speed configuration. It has a TC-571 torque converter, Primary Shift Schedule 1, Allison HS/RDS Package 223, neutral at stop, and a dash-mounted push-button shifter. Allison FuelSense is not included. Drivelines are an SPL170 HD-XL main driveline with one midship bearing and an SPL170 XL interaxle driveline. PTO operation is set up with a dash-mounted single-acting electric-over-hydraulic PTO control and PTO mode control from the cab station. There is also a 12-pin remote PTO/throttle provision in the engine bay.
Engine Equipment
The engine is supported by a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator and a PACCAR premium starter. Three PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries are rated at 2,190 CCA. A cab power disconnect switch (Kissling 300A) is mounted on the battery box, and a low voltage disconnect system is included. The truck also has a 110–120V immersion block heater, a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent start/stops, a high-efficiency cooling system and a WABCO 25.9 CFM air compressor. On the fuel side, it has a PACCAR fuel/water separator on the engine with extended service interval and a PACCAR MX engine fuel cooler. Air intake is through self-cleaning dual under-hood pre-cleaners and a firewall-mounted air cleaner.
Exhaust
The exhaust is a dual system with a left-hand stack. The DPF/SCR is a single module mounted under the cab on the right-hand side. It has chrome exhaust pipes, chrome standpipes with curved tips and clear coat, and a DPF regeneration switch.
Chassis & Frame
The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails to 354" with 3/8" rail thickness and a full steel inner liner. It has heavy-duty iron front spring brackets, aluminum frame rail crossmembers, and a square end of frame set up for a body builder-installed crossmember. Wheelbase is 235", cab-to-axle is 144.9", front axle to back of cab is 90.1", and cab to end of frame is 204.9".
Front Axle & Steering
The front axle is a PACCAR FX-20 steer axle rated at 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop and wide track. Steering is TRW THP60 dual-gear power steering with a frame-mounted reservoir and cooler. The front end has PHP10 iron Preset Plus hubs and greasable spring pins.
Rear Axles
The rear axle is a Dana Spicer D46-172 tandem rated at 46,000 lbs with a 4.30 ratio. It has heavy-wall drive axles, a drive axle lube pump and synthetic lubricant in all axles. It also has a tandem differential lock with speed interlock and a separate dash control for full-lock traction. A Hendrickson EXS20 self-steering pusher axle rated at 20,000 lbs sits 50" ahead of the forward drive axle centerline and comes with its own air tank. The lift axle regulator is mounted on a crossmember with a switch and gauge in the dash. The lifted axle stows higher to maximize ground clearance. Engineering-assigned ratings are 20,000 lbs GAWR front, 20,000 lbs first intermediate, 23,000 lbs second intermediate, 23,000 lbs rear and 80,000 lbs GVWR.
Brakes & Safety Systems
Braking is Bendix ADB22X air disc on the front and tandem axles, and air disc on the pusher axle. It includes front pad dust shields, Bendix Smart ATC traction control, 6S6M ABS, an SBM valve, a pneumatic park brake and a dash-mounted self-returning brake hand valve. A tire pressure monitoring system is included. Stability control is not included.
Air, Fuel & Tanks
The air system has a Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with heater, coalescing filter and extended purge, plus nylon chassis hose and polished aluminum air tanks outside the frame rails. Fuel is carried in a single polished 26" aluminum 110-gallon tank under the cab on the left, with a non-slip fuel tank step and polished tank straps. A 24-gallon DEF tank is mounted on the left behind the cab with a polished stainless steel cover. An aluminum space-saver battery box with side access sits behind the cab on the right, polished. A non-slip aluminum aftertreatment cab entry step is under the cab on the right. Up front is a polished, deep tapered aluminum bumper set forward.
Suspension
The front uses 20,000 lb taper leaf springs with Tenneco shocks and 80 mm front spring spacer blocks. The rear is Peterbilt Air Trac rated at 46,000 lbs with 52" axle spacing. It has air springs with internal bumpers, a single leveling valve on the forward drive axle, and a dash-mounted dump switch with indicator light. Air bag guards are installed on the rear suspension.
Cab & Interior
The cab is an aluminum vocational 121" BBC day cab with a Metton hood, stainless steel crown and grille, and tilt assist. It has a thermal insulation package and cab air suspension. The interior is Prestige in Sterling Gray. The driver gets a Peterbilt LX premium seat with air ride, high back and leather. The passenger seat is a Peterbilt ST non-adjustable, non-air ride, high-back seat in Mordura. Seats are black, with left and right driver armrests. There is a toolbox under the passenger seat with tow hook holders. The tilt/telescope steering column carries a premium leather-wrapped multi-function wheel with audio and cruise controls. Power door locks, power windows and a combination fresh-air heater/air conditioner are standard.
Instrumentation & Electronics
A 15" digital cluster shows drive axle front and rear oil temperatures, engine oil temperature, transmission oil temperature, air filter restriction and brake application air pressure. It also shows suspension air pressures 1 and 2, pusher axle pressure, engine and PTO hourmeters, turbo boost and engine percent torque. The cab has a 7" infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and a midlevel four-speaker package. A Cobra 29 CB radio is mounted at the center of the header, with an antenna on the left cowl. Global telematics hardware and one additional dash switch with wiring are included.
Exterior & Lighting
The cab has a stainless steel outside sunvisor and bright-finish Peterbilt aero mirrors that are motorized and heated with integrated convex. A look-down mirror sits over the passenger door. Glass includes a one-piece curved windshield, dark window tint and a fixed one-piece rear window. The cab also has a textured NFPA-compliant exterior grab handle, bright side-of-hood air intake bezels and 2.25" fender lips. A removable bugscreen sits behind the grille, and the electric wipers have an intermittent setting. An air horn is mounted under the cab. Lighting includes projector headlights with fender-mounted turn signals, five LED aero marker lights and self-canceling turn signals. It also has two flush-mounted LED load lights with a dash switch, plus switch wiring for auxiliary lights and a beacon/strobe. Safety equipment includes a triangle reflector kit, a fire extinguisher next to the driver seat and a 107 dB backup alarm. The cab, hood top, cab roof and fenders are Axalta two-stage Red, and the frame is Black.
Dump Body
The body is a 17' Heritage Aluminum Smooth Side, polished, 96" wide, with 60" sides plus an 8" board. It is rated 17' x 60" x 68". Sides and side posts are polished extruded panels with a .180" inner sheet. Trim includes 3/16" polished dirt shedders and a 9" extruded polished top rail. Each side has a 2" x 8" sideboard, and 3' x 8' inside liners are installed. The floor is 1/4" up front and 3/8" in the rear 96". Underneath are 6" I-beam longsills with rubber cushion, 3-1/2" extruded boxed crossmembers on 12" centers, and a polished bottom rail with radius cleanouts. The front has a 1/4" polished bulkhead and an 18" cab shield narrowed on both sides, made of 3/16" polished material with a 6" face.
Tailgate
The tailgate is 68" tall in 1/4" smooth-side polished material with an overslung top hinge and tailgate chains. It has air tailgate controls, a center coal door, a salt lock on each side and a sand seal on the inside.
Hoist & Tarp
Lifting is by a front pin-to-pin telescopic hoist. Body, strobe and tarp controls are on a tower between the seats. The hydraulic system has a pump kickout switch, an aluminum hydraulic tank mounted on the side of the frame, and a 3-line system with shutoff valves. PTO-engaged and body-up indicator lights are in the dash. Tarping is an Aero electric arm flip system with mesh material and top-mount arms.
Body Lighting & Equipment
Body lighting is a full LED package. Stop/turn/tail lights are in the rear posts and split light panels, and there are eight marker lights per side, top and bottom, plus six in each rear post. Strobes are on the front of the cab shield on a 45-degree cut and in each rear post. Round stop/turn/tail lights are set in the rear plate, with an ID cluster on the hinge. The driver-side front panel has a ladder, with a one-step ladder below the bottom rail, and there are front inside steps. The body has polished aluminum front splash shields, full-width rear Heritage mud flaps with chains, and a 6" bolt-on rear apron. Polished aluminum fender skirts cover the drives and lift axle. A body prop and backup alarm are installed. A lift axle gauge, regulator and Schrader valve are mounted outside on the passenger side. Boards, steel hardware and 1/4" top and bottom rail striping are finished to match the cab.
Tires & Wheels
All three axle groups run Alcoa high-polish aluminum wheels, mirror-polished on the outer surface with Dura-Bright finish on the outer surface of the outer wheel. The front runs Bridgestone M870 315/80R22.5 20-ply tires on Alcoa 89U647 22.5x9.00 wheels. The tandem drive runs eight Bridgestone M726 ELA 11R24.5 14-ply tires on Alcoa 98U637 24.5x8.25 wheels. The pusher axle runs two Bridgestone M870 315/80R22.5 20-ply tires on Alcoa 89U647 22.5x9.00 wheels. Wheel guards are fitted to the tandem axle, both between the brake drum and wheel and between the wheels.
