Overview
This 2026 Peterbilt 589 Traditional is a day cab tractor (no sleeper) configured for general freight and other-commodity hauling. It's set up to pull a 53' van trailer (13.5' trailer height, 36" kingpin, 2 trailer axles), with an operating envelope of 65' length, 102" width, and 13.5' height.

Engine & Drivetrain
Powered by a Cummins X15, Performance Series, rated 565 HP @ 1,900 RPM (governed @ 1,900 RPM) with 1,850 lb-ft of torque @ 1,000 RPM, 2024-emissions compliant, with EMUX electronics architecture. Vehicle speed is factory-set to a 100 MPH maximum, with cruise control capped at 75 MPH (auto-resume disabled) and PTO maximum engine speed set at 1,400 RPM; gear-down protection and engine protection shutdown are disabled, and the engine idle shutdown timer is disabled. Equipped with a predictive cruise control package, Jacobs compression brake, engine brake controls on the RH column, and a remote PTO/throttle 12-pin provision in the engine bay. SmartLinq RD 5-year subscription included for connected Cummins engine diagnostics. Paired with an Eaton Fuller RTLO20918B 18-speed manual transmission (chrome manual shifter) with an oil-to-water cooler, self-adjusting pre-damped clutch, RPL20 interaxle driveline, and RPL25 SD driveline with 1 midship bearing; PTO control is a dash-mounted single-acting electric-over-air unit. Supporting equipment includes a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator, 4 PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries (2,920 CCA), a 110-120V block heater, a 37.4 CFM air compressor, a high-efficiency cooling system with 2-speed fan clutch, a Davco 382 fuel/water separator, and 15" premium stainless steel air cleaners with slotted caps. Exhaust is a dual SOC DPF/SCR system mounted under cab (single module) with 54" chrome standpipes and clear coat, 45-degree curved tip standpipes, chrome exhaust pipes, and a DPF regeneration switch.

Chassis & Axles
Front axle: Meritor MFS+13B rated 13,200 lbs with a 3.5" drop (wide-track configuration), taper leaf springs and shocks rated 13,200 lbs, Tenneco shocks, greasable spring pins, Sheppard HD94 power steering with a frame-mounted reservoir, and PHP10 aluminum preset+ hubs with Bendix ADB22X-LT air disc brakes. Rear axle: Meritor MT40-14X tandem rated 40,000 lbs with a 3.70 rear axle ratio, PHP10 aluminum preset+ hubs, Bendix air cam drum brakes (16.5x7), differential lock with speed interlock, synthetic axle lubricant, Bendix ESP electronic stability program with ATC, ABS (6S6M), and a tire pressure monitoring system. GAWR is 13,200 lbs front and 20,000 lbs per tandem intermediate axle (40,000 lbs combined rear); GVWR is 53,200 lbs, with a 120,000 lb GCW rating. Frame consists of 10-5/8" steel rails (286"-325" length) at 5/16" thickness, zinc-coated anti-corrosion treated, with aluminum crossmembers and HD iron front spring brackets; the EOF is tapered with a kingpin cutout. Wheelbase is 230", FAX/BOC is 99.90", cab-to-axle is 130.10", cab-to-end-of-frame is 184.80", and maximum grade rating is 6%. Estimated engineering weight is 17,597 lbs (actual shipping weight may vary). Fifth wheel is a Holland FW35 top plate set 20" behind the bogie centerline, inboard air-slide mounted with LH release, 8.6"-9.25" height, heavy-duty air slide with 30" travel, no-tilt convertible, and slide controls. Also equipped with Peterbilt stainless steel quarter fenders (braceless), premium stainless steel rear mudflap hangers, polished deck plate access steps with a frame-mounted deck plate and access package on both sides, a steel Texas-style chrome bumper with 2 tow points, and a heavy-duty external tow eye.

Suspension
PB Low Air Leaf rear suspension rated 40,000 lbs with a 52" spread (lightweight configuration), plus a dash-mounted dump switch with a suspension indicator light.

Cab & Interior
Aluminum day cab with a 131" BBC aluminum hood, polished crown, and spring tilt assist; thermal insulation package and keyless entry. Sears Atlas 80 air-ride, high-back driver and passenger seats in black with Ultraleather trim, red seat belts, and driver/passenger armrests. Premier interior in Alpine Gray with rubber flooring. Adjustable tilt/telescoping steering column with a premium leather-wrapped multi-function wheel (PB logo, audio, and cruise controls). One-piece curved windshield, dark window tint, 3-piece fixed rear cab glass, power door locks and window lifts, combo fresh-air heater/AC, cab air suspension, and a textured, NFPA-compliant exterior entry grab handle. Stainless steel V-style outside sunvisor, heated/motorized 7"x18" West Coast mirrors with heated convex 8" mirrors, and a look-down mirror over the passenger door. Four PB round air horns (two 23" and two 26", roof mounted). 15" digital cluster main instrumentation panel with bright bezel gauges; 52mm round backlit gauges for front and rear drive axle oil temp, engine oil temp, air suspension pressure, and fuel filter restriction, with transmission oil temp, air filter restriction, brake application air pressure, engine hourmeter, PTO hourmeter, and engine percent torque shown in the digital cluster display. Also includes an ABS off-road switch, a disable-brake-light-with-engine-brake feature, and 4 additional dash switches. Electronics include a ConcertClass AM/FM/WB radio with 3.5mm aux input, a standard 2-speaker package, Bluetooth phone/audio, USB port, dual USB charging, a Cobra 29 CB radio (center header mount), satellite radio provision, global telematics hardware, and J1939 connection provisions. Rounded out with a rear wall map pocket, removable bugscreen behind the grille, electric windshield wipers with intermittent feature, auto-reset circuit protection, a triangle reflector kit, a driver-side-mounted fire extinguisher, and a variable-adjusting backup alarm (87-112 dB).

Body & Equipment
Aluminum battery box (stylized LH, non-slip step with pad), a polished battery/tool box, and a complete aftertreatment cab entry with a non-slip step. Fuel system includes dual aluminum tanks (110-gal RH, 90-gal LH, both behind cab), polished, in a split-tank configuration with dual shutoff valves for dual draw/return, a fuel cooler, and polished fuel/hydraulic tank straps. A 24-gallon medium aluminum DEF tank is mounted LH BOC (2:1 fuel ratio minimum), positioned rearward of the fuel/hydraulic tank, with a polished stainless steel cover. Air/trailer equipment includes a Bendix AD-HF air dryer with heater, coalescing filter, and extended purge; polished aluminum air tanks mounted outside the frame rails; a cast 7-way plug; 12' AE lines (3-in-1) with dual 7-way plugs; and gladhands/plug/ISO holder mounted BOC/BOS. Lighting includes LED headlight pods with heater and integral turn signals, five bus-style LED marker lights, LED oval stop/turn/tail/backup lights in the tractor taper EOF crossmember, additional LED round turn signals on the mirrors, and two flush-mounted LED load lights. Finished in a two-stage Axalta paint job in the Seminole scheme, in Legendary Red and Legendary Black, with a black-painted frame.
