Overview
This 2026 Peterbilt 589 Traditional is a sleeper tractor configured for general freight service, spec'd for flatbed trailer applications up to 53' in length. It rides on a 280" wheelbase and is equipped with an 80" high-roof sleeper and Platinum interior package.

Engine & Drivetrain
Powered by a Cummins X15 rated 565 HP @ 1,900 RPM (governed at 1,900 RPM) with 1,850 lb-ft of torque @ 1,000 RPM, Performance Series, 2024-emissions compliant. Paired with an Eaton EXDP-18F118D Endurant XD Pro 18-speed automated transmission (cooler not included), RPL20 driveline interaxle, and RPL25 SD driveline with 2 midship bearings. Rear axle ratio is 3.70, with a typical operating speed of 75 MPH and effective VSL setting of 65.0 MPH or greater. Includes an Endurant XD/PACCAR TX-18 oil-to-water transmission oil cooler, column-mounted RH shifter, performance shift calibration, and neutral coast mode at pedal. Equipped with a Jacobs engine compression brake, predictive cruise control package, and a powertrain optimized for performance GCWR. PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator, 4 PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries (2,920 CCA), PACCAR premium starter, and a 110–120V immersion-type block heater. 37.4 CFM air compressor, 2-speed fan clutch, and a high-efficiency cooling system. Dual SOC exhaust with DPF/SCR mounted RH under cab (single module), chrome exhaust pipes, 54" chrome standpipes with clear coat, and a stainless muffler guard. Connected via Cummins SmartLinq remote diagnostics with a 5-year subscription.

Chassis & Axles
Front axle is a Dana Spicer E1322IL rated 13,200 lbs with a 3.5" drop, riding on a Peterbilt front air leaf spring rated 13,200 lbs, Sheppard HD94 power steering, and Bendix ADB22X-LT front disc brakes. Rear axle is a Dana Spicer DSP41 rated 40,000 lbs. GVWR is 53,200 lbs with a GCW rating of 80,000 lbs; front axle load 13,200 lbs, rear axle load 40,000 lbs. FAX/BOC measures 99.90", cab/axle 180.10", and cab/EOF 236.10", with a maximum grade rating of 6%. Frame consists of 10-3/4" steel rails (355"–384") at 3/8" thickness, zinc-coated for corrosion resistance, with aluminum frame rail crossmembers and a tapered EOF crossmember with kingpin cutout. Fitted with a Holland FW35 fifth wheel top plate on an inboard, air-slide mount (8.6"–9.25" height range, 48" slide) with fifth wheel slide controls, plus a frame-mounted deck plate and access package on both sides. Braking includes Bendix ESP electronic stability program with ATC, Bendix air cam rear drum brakes (16.5x8.6), ABS 6S6M, tire pressure monitoring system, and synthetic axle lubricant on all axles. Trailer connection equipment includes a 12' straight ISO cable with 7-way plugs, aluminum polished air tanks, and an auxiliary air tank. Fuel system includes a 135-gallon aluminum tank (RH BOC) and 100-gallon aluminum tank (LH BOC), both polished, plus a 24-gallon DEF tank with polished stainless cover. Finished with a chrome steel Texas-style bumper (2 tow points), Hogebuilt 27" stainless quarter fenders, premium stainless mudflap hangers, and an aluminum battery box with a non-slip step.

Suspension
Rear suspension is a PB Low Low air leaf setup rated 40,000 lbs with a 52" axle spread, including a dash-mounted dump switch with suspension indicator light.

Cab & Interior
Aluminum cab with a 131" BBC and Metton hood, featuring a polished stainless crown and spring tilt assist, thermal insulation packages in both cab and sleeper, and polished stainless rocker panels on cab and sleeper. Interior is finished in Platinum trim, Alpine Gray, with rubber flooring and Peterbilt keyless entry. The 80" high-roof sleeper includes a second bunk, premium pocket spring mattress, walkthrough curtain, cabinet shelving, upper tower storage, sleeper cabinet door/drawer package, hanging file storage bin, rear sleeper audio controls, provisions for a 22" flat-panel TV, and a 1.8 ft³ refrigerator with cosmetic door. Sears Atlas 80 driver and passenger seats (air ride, high back) with armrests in black, adjustable tilt/telescoping steering column, and a premium leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. One-piece curved windshield, power door locks and window lifts, privacy curtain, and LH/RH sleeper side tilting windows. Combo fresh air heater/air conditioner. Outside stainless V-style sunvisor for high-roof sleepers, heated/motorized 7"x18" West Coast mirrors with look-down mirror and convex lenses. 7" infotainment display with Apple CarPlay, premium speaker packages for cab (6 speakers) and sleeper (2 speakers with amp/subwoofer), and a Cobra 29 CB radio with weatherband and dual 48" antennas. Global telematics hardware with F/O telematics wiring (J1939, power, ground). 15" digital instrument cluster displays drive axle oil temperatures, engine and transmission oil temperature, automated trans clutch temp, air filter restriction pressure, brake and suspension air pressure, trailer reservoir air pressure, engine and PTO hourmeters, turbo boost, and engine percent torque. LED headlight pods with heater and integral turn signals, LED marker/side repeater lights, LED oval stop/turn/tail/backup lights, additional LED round turn signals on the mirrors, and flush-mounted LED load lights. Variable-adjusting backup alarm (87–112 dB) and a driver-side fire extinguisher. 1,800W inverter with battery charger and shore power (GFCI facing in), plus 18" sleeper side extenders for the high-roof sleeper. Finished in two-stage Axalta paint with glass effect — Legendary Blue on cab, hood, fenders, and sleeper roof, with a black frame.

Tires & Wheels
Front: 11R24.5 16-ply BF Goodrich R273 Ecopia tires on 24.5x8.25 high-polish aluminum wheels. Rear: 11R24.5 14-ply BF Goodrich M726 ELa tires on 24.5x8.25 high-polish aluminum wheels, tandem drive (8 tires/rims rear). Mirror-polish wheel finish throughout, with wheel guards fitted to steer and tandem axle positions.
