The application spec calls for a 53' two-axle lowbed trailer, a 140,000 lb gross combination weight and 100% highway operation, with a maximum grade rating of 6%. The GVWR is 80,000 lbs. It's set up for United States registry.
Engine & Drivetrain
Power comes from a Cummins X15 production series engine rated at 605 HP at 1,950 RPM, governed at 2,000 RPM, with 2,050 lb-ft of torque at 1,000 RPM. It meets 2024 emissions standards, and the engine is model year 2026. The powertrain is optimized for performance in vocational and heavy-GCWR applications. The engine includes a Jacobs compression brake with controls on the right-hand column, a 37.4 CFM air compressor and a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator. It also has a PACCAR 12V starter and three PACCAR AGM 12V batteries rated at 2,775 CCA. A battery jumper terminal and a low-voltage disconnect system are included. Cold-weather equipment includes an immersion-type 110–120V block heater and fuel heat for the fuel filter. There's also a PACCAR fuel/water separator with an extended service interval. Cooling is a high-efficiency system with a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent start/stops. Dual 15" premium stainless steel cowl-mounted air cleaners have slotted stainless caps.
Exhaust is a right-hand under-cab single-module DPF/SCR system with a DPF regeneration switch. It runs dual 7" chrome-plated standpipes, 36" tall with a clear coat and 45-degree curved tips. The engine has engine protection shutdown. The driver also gets a predictive cruise control package and a 12-pin remote PTO/throttle provision in the engine bay. Vehicle speed is capped at 68 MPH for the accelerator and 68 MPH for cruise control, with a typical operating speed of 68 MPH. PTO maximum engine speed is set at 1,400 RPM.
The Eaton RTLO20918B 18-speed manual transmission has an oil-to-water cooler, a black manual shifter, a self-adjusting clutch and a pre-damped clutch. A remote lube hose for the release bearing is mounted under the hood on the left rail. For PTO use, the transmission has bottom-mount PTO provisions, an HD input bearing and a park brake interlock. It also has one dash-mounted single-acting electric-over-air PTO control. The driveline is an SPL350 HD-XL main driveline with one midship bearing and an SPL250 XL interaxle driveline, both service-free. The rear axle ratio is 4.30.
Chassis & Axles
The wheelbase measures 251". Cab-to-axle is 160.9", front axle to back of cab is 90.1" and cab to end of frame is 215.6". The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails to 354" at 3/8" thickness with a full steel inner liner, and the rails are zinc-coated for corrosion protection. The front spring brackets are heavy-duty iron, front and rear. The end of frame is tapered with a crossmember that includes a kingpin cutout.
Up front is a PACCAR FX-20 steer axle rated at 20,000 lbs, with a 4" drop and wide track. It uses TRW THP60 dual-gear power steering and a frame-mounted power steering reservoir with a cooler. The front brakes are air disc with severe-service rotors on PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs.
The rear axle is a Dana Spicer D46-172 tandem rated at 46,000 lbs, with a heavy-wall housing and a drive-axle lube pump. It has tandem diff locks with a speed interlock, plus a separate dash control for full-lock traction control. The rear brakes are air disc on the tandem drives, with PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs and severe-service disc brake rotors. Synthetic lubricant is used in all axles.
A Watson-Chalin SL2065 self-steering pusher axle rated at 20,000 lbs is spaced 49" ahead of the forward drive axle and includes its own air tank. Its lift regulator and gauge sit on the dash beside the driver's seat. When lifted, the pusher is stowed lower to maximize body clearance.
Axle ratings are 20,000 lbs front, 20,000 lbs first intermediate (pusher), 23,000 lbs second intermediate and 23,000 lbs rear. Safety systems include Bendix ESP electronic stability with ATC, 6S/6M ABS and a tire pressure monitoring system.
