Engine & Drivetrain: Power comes from a PACCAR MX-13 rated at 455 hp at 1,600 rpm and 1,650 lb-ft at 900 rpm, governed at 2,200 rpm. It is a model year 2025 engine with 2024 emissions. The powertrain is optimized for balance in frequent start-and-stop service, and the typical operating speed is set at 62 mph. Maximum pedal speed and maximum cruise speed are both set at 65 mph. The engine is paired with an Allison 4500 RDS-P Gen 6 Rugged Duty Series automatic in a 6-speed configuration. It uses a TC-571 torque converter, a dash-mounted push-button shifter and auto-neutral that engages with the parking brake. Drive goes through an RPL25 driveline with one midship bearing and an RPL20 interaxle driveline.
Engine & Drivetrain (PTO, braking and support systems): Drum drive comes from a PACCAR REPTO with a 1.2:1 ratio. There is a 12-pin J1939 remote PTO and throttle provision, and PTO mode can be controlled from the cab or a remote station. Cab and remote PTO maximum engine speed is set at 2,000 rpm. Dedicated presets are 800 and 900 rpm, and the custom cab/remote presets are 750, 850 and 950 rpm. Engine braking comes from the MX compression brake, controlled from the right-hand column, with retarder cruise control on. The engine idle shutdown timer is disabled. Supporting equipment includes a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent starts and stops, a high-efficiency cooling system, a PACCAR 160 amp alternator and a PACCAR premium starter. There are three PACCAR premium 12V batteries totaling 2,190 CCA, a 110–120V immersion block heater and a Wabco 25.9 CFM air compressor. Also included are a PACCAR fuel/water separator with extended service interval, a firewall-mounted air cleaner, and EMUX electronics architecture with engine derate protection. Exhaust is a single right-hand system with the DPF/SCR in a single module under the right side of the cab. It has a 24" tall, 5" diameter chrome curved-tip standpipe.
Chassis & Axles: The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails with 3/8" rail thickness to 354", a full steel inner liner, heavy-duty iron front spring brackets, aluminum crossmembers and a square end of frame. Up front is a Dana Spicer D2200F 22,000 lb axle with a 3.5" drop. It has TRW TAS85 dual-gear power steering with a frame-mounted reservoir and cooler, PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs and greasable spring pins. The rear is a Dana Spicer DSH44 High Performance 44 tandem rated at 44,000 lbs, with a 4.11 ratio and PHP10 aluminum Preset+ hubs. It has tandem differential locks with speed interlock and a separate dash control for full lock. Brakes are Bendix air cam drums, 16.5x6 front and 16.5x7 rear. They have gusseted cam brackets, heavy-duty steer axle cam bushings, rear camshaft reinforcement, an SBM valve and upsized parking brakes. Safety systems include Bendix ESP electronic stability with ATC, 6S6M ABS and tire pressure monitoring. All axles use synthetic lubricant. Air equipment includes a Bendix AD-HF heated air dryer with coalescing filter, steel air tanks with pull cords, and nylon chassis hose. Air system components are cleared from the outside of the frame on both sides behind the cab, and body connections are 5' behind the cab. Fuel is carried in a 26" aluminum 80-gallon tank under the left side of the cab with a non-slip step. A small heavy-duty 14-gallon DEF tank is mounted on the left side behind the cab. An aluminum space-saver battery box is on the right side behind the cab, with side access, jumper terminals, a Kissling 300A disconnect switch and a low-voltage disconnect. A polished aluminum swept-back bumper, wheel guards between the tandem wheels and 4.5" rubber fender lips round out the chassis.
Suspension: The front suspension uses 23,000 lb biased-load taper leaf springs built for mixer applications, with Tenneco shocks and 50 mm spacer blocks. The rear is a Hendrickson HMX EX 460 HAULMAAX rated at 46,000 lbs. It has a 54" axle spacing, a 70K creep rating, a 16.5" saddle height and shock absorbers. The cab rides on air suspension.
