Overview

This is a new 2025 Peterbilt Model 536 Medium Duty day cab, set up as a complete mechanic's field service truck. It is a Class 6 chassis rated at 26,000 lbs GVWR, with maximum axle ratings of 10,000 lbs front and 21,000 lbs rear. The truck has the Peterbilt Aero 109" BBC hood and a 156" wheelbase and was specified for city delivery service. It is upfitted with an IMT Dominator II 11' crane body, an IMT 10000 Series telescopic mechanic crane and an IMT CAS80RL hydraulic air compressor. The cab and hood are finished in white over a black frame.

Engine & Drivetrain

The engine is a PACCAR PX-7 Performance rated at 300 hp at 2600 rpm, governed at 2600 rpm, with 660 lb-ft of torque at 1600 rpm (2024 emissions). It runs on EMUX electronics architecture. The powertrain is optimized for balance for service with frequent start-and-stop cycles, with a typical operating speed of 75 mph and a maximum cruise speed of 75 mph. The engine idle shutdown timer is disabled, and the ambient temperature overrule is enabled. Engine protection shutdown is included. A 12-pin remote PTO/throttle connection sits in the engine bay, and maximum PTO speed is set at 1400 rpm. A VGT exhaust brake is fitted. Cooling comes from a high-efficiency cooling system with a Horton on/off fan clutch. The truck has a single engine-mounted air cleaner with an air restriction indicator and a PACCAR fuel/water separator. The electrical system includes a PACCAR 160 amp brushed alternator, a PACCAR 12V starter, and three PACCAR AGM 12V batteries rated at 2775 CCA. The batteries sit in an in-cab box under the passenger seat, with a battery jumper terminal under the hood on the right-hand frame rail and a low voltage disconnect system. There is also an immersion-type 110-120V block heater and an 18.7 CFM air compressor. The exhaust is a single right-hand side-of-cab system with a single-module DPF/SCR under the right side of the cab and a diamond plate cover. It ends in a 24" tall, 5" diameter chrome standpipe with clear coat and a curved tip. The transmission is an Allison 2500 RDS-P Gen 6 Rugged Duty Series in a six-speed configuration with a TC-221 torque converter. It has Allison Neutral at Stop and a dash-mounted push-button shifter, and FuelSense is not selected. The truck has left-hand transmission PTO provisions and a dash-mounted, single-acting electric-over-air PTO control. Power reaches the rear axle through a 1710 HD driveline with one midship bearing, and the rear axle ratio is 5.25.

Chassis & Axles

The frame uses 10-5/8" steel rails to 285" with 5/16" rail thickness and zinc-coated anti-corrosion treatment. It has a heavy-duty 5-piece crossmember at the back of cab and aluminum frame crossmembers. The end of frame is square with no crossmember, and a moveable end-of-frame crossmember carries the taillights. Key dimensions are a 156" wheelbase, 69.5" front axle to back of cab, 86.5" cab to axle, and 137.5" cab to end of frame. Up front is a Dana Spicer E1002IL 10,000 lb wide-track axle with a 3.5" drop and PHP10 aluminum Preset+ hubs. It has Bendix air cam 16.5x5 drum brakes with gusseted cam brackets and Sheppard HD94 power steering with a frame-mounted reservoir. The rear axle is a Dana Spicer S21-172 21,000 lb single axle with PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs and Bendix air cam 16.5x8.6 drum brakes. It also has a driver-controlled differential lock with speed interlock, an SBM valve and synthetic lubricant in all axles. The truck has a 4S4M anti-lock braking system. The air system includes a Bendix AD-HF air dryer with heater and coalescing filter, steel painted air tanks with pull cords, and nylon chassis hose. It also has a dash-mounted self-returning brake hand valve, body connections 5' behind the cab and a 7-way socket at the end of frame. Fuel is carried in a 50-gallon D-shaped polished aluminum tank under the left side of the cab, with a polished non-slip step and polished straps. A small heavy-duty 14-gallon DEF tank, also under the left side of the cab, has a polished stainless steel cover. Other chassis features are a bright-finish 3-piece steel aero bumper with two recessed Peterbilt fog lights, and single-axle wheel guards between the wheels.

Suspension

The front suspension uses 10,000 lb mono-leaf springs with shocks. At the rear is a Reyco 79KB 21,000 lb taper leaf suspension. The cab rides on air suspension. The body package adds a level spring suspension on the crane side, which levels within 2" on an empty truck.

Cab & Interior

The cab is aluminum and sits under the Aero 109" BBC SMC hood with a bright-finish hood crown and 4" extra-wide fender lips. The interior is Probilt charcoal gray with a curved roof and a thermal insulation package. The driver gets a Sears air-ride high-back vinyl seat with a right-hand armrest. The passenger gets a Sears high-back vinyl seat with a left-hand armrest. Both seats are black. The cab has a tilt/telescope steering column, a Peterbilt logo steering wheel, and metal kick plates on the interior door panels. It also has power door locks and windows, a combination fresh-air heater and air conditioner, and a floor-mounted cup holder. The windshield is a one-piece curved design, and the fixed one-piece rear window is glass. All windows have dark tint. The dash centers on a 7" digital cluster that shows transmission oil temperature, engine hours, engine PTO hours, turbo boost and engine percent torque. A separate backlit 52mm manifold pressure gauge, a dual-scale MPH/KPH speedometer and two additional dash switches are also included. The audio system is a ConcertClass AM/FM/WB radio with 3.5 aux input, two speakers, Bluetooth phone and audio, and a USB port. A Uniden Bearcat 880 CB radio with weatherband is mounted in the center header, with dual left and right mirror CB antenna mounts. The truck is fitted with global telematics hardware, provisions for a telematics display on a 1.5" RAM-mount base, and a 5-year SmartLinQ remote diagnostics subscription. On the outside are a stainless steel sun visor, an NFPA-compliant textured cab entry grab handle, and an aluminum non-slip entry step on the right side. The mirrors are Peterbilt Aero units in bright housings, motorized and heated with integrated convex glass, plus a look-down mirror over the passenger door. Exterior lighting includes composite fender-mounted headlights with integral DRL, park, turn and side markers. There are also five chrome-housing aero LED marker lights, self-canceling turn signals, LED stop/turn/tail/backup lights at the end of frame, and a switch with wiring for a beacon or strobe. Other equipment includes electric intermittent wipers, auto-reset circuit protection, an air horn mounted under the cab and a variable 87-112 dB backup alarm. A fire extinguisher is mounted outboard of the driver seat, and a triangle reflector kit is included. The cab, hood, fenders and roof are painted Axalta two-stage white, and the frame is black.

Body & Equipment

The body is an IMT Dominator II 11' heavy-duty galvannealed steel crane body with a standard right-rear crane mount. It has a crane body rating of 75,000 ft-lb and is designed for single axle chassis of 26,000 lb GVW or larger. Storage totals 164.9 cubic feet. The side compartments are 60"H x 22"D, 32" above the cargo deck, and the right-rear crane compartment is 60", 32" above the cargo bed. They are built from 10 and 12 gauge material. The doors are 14 gauge galvannealed, hemmed, seamless single-panel steel with stainless steel hinges, pneumatic gas spring retainers, and black powder-coated cast steel 3-point latches, all secured by a master lock system. The cargo bed is 50" wide with 1/8" deck plate, six recessed tie-downs and a standard black bedliner. At the rear is a 10" fold-down tailgate with a single-hand latch. A 25" workbench bumper has a through compartment, a 5/16" plate work surface, a recess for a 2" hitch receiver tube, a pintle hitch mounting plate and a 7-blade trailer light receptacle. The bumper also carries a Wilton 8" Tradesman vise with an isolation plate underneath to protect the chassis electrical system while welding. A three-point access package is included. The body has LED DOT stop, tail, turn, marker and backup lights, a backup alarm and an ICC safety kit. Compartment lighting is LED high-intensity, and there are two LED work lights. A custom headache rack at the front of the body carries four LED work lights and three red 3/4" dual-function LED bullet lights.

The crane is an IMT Model 10000 Series telescopic mechanic's field service crane with a 10,000 lb maximum lift capacity, 25' reach and 400 degrees of rotation. It uses double-acting cylinders with integral holding and/or counterbalance valves and a four-section remote control valve, with return filters. The boom-mounted planetary winch runs at 60 ft/min. Also included are a crane hook, snatch block, anti-two-block device, hydraulic overload shutdown system, LED overload indicator lights, LED boom tip lights and a boom support. Proportional radio remote control uses toggle switches, and a short and a long radio elimination cable are provided. With CMD.CTRL, the operator can run the crane from the wireless controller and control the stabilizers, lights and compressor from the crane compartment. Stabilizers are power-down on both sides and power-out on the crane side. Hydraulics are driven by a PTO with a tandem pump.

The IMT CAS80RL hydraulic air compressor has a cold weather package and delivers 60-80 CFM at up to 150 PSI. It is paired with a 22.5-gallon rear between-frame air tank, a 50' x 1/2" Reelcraft hose reel, and a 1/2" moisture separator/pressure regulator/oiler.

Compartments are outfitted as follows. The left front compartment holds a standard AE toolbox (36.5"H x 29"W x 18.75"D) with five 3" drawers, two 5" drawers, one 7" drawer and a 2.5" riser. The second left compartment has an IMT shelf and bolt bin. The left horizontal compartment has a 49.75" shelf kit, and the left rear has three 25.75" shelf kits. The right front compartment has a full-height divider, an oxy/acetylene bracket and three 17.5" shelves. The second right compartment has three 15" shelf kits, and the right horizontal compartment has a 49.75" shelf kit. The body exterior is primed and painted in-house in white (paint code N0006) with Sherwin Williams products. The compartment interiors are finished in IMT compartment coat, and the understructure is undercoated.

Tires & Wheels

The front tires are AP 14-ply 11R22.5 EnduComBi RA, and the four rear tires are AP 14-ply 11R22.5 EnduComBi RDCS. They are mounted on Alcoa ULA187 22.5x8.25 high-polish aluminum wheels front and rear, with mirror-polished outer surfaces.

Warranty & Protection

As a new unit, the chassis carries Peterbilt standard coverage of 1 year/unlimited miles/km. The PACCAR PX-7 engine carries standard coverage of 3 years/unlimited miles/unlimited hours. The EPA engine emissions base warranty runs 5 years/100,000 miles. The body and upfit equipment come with a one-year parts and labor warranty, and the quote notes that OEM warranties on individual components may extend longer.
